The simulation of wires is essential for the numerical modelling of many problems, such as those related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The Letter identifies the cause of errors occuring when modelling wires using the transmission-line modelling (TLM) method. A new approach is proposed which is shown to give good aggreement between simulated and experimental results.
