Stok Kangri

Here are some pictures from a trip to Stok Kangri and the Marka Valley in September/October 2006 with KE Adventure.

Mon 25 September: Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh (3500m).
Tue 26 September: Sightseeing in the Indus valley - Hemis, Thikse and Shey Monasteries.
Wed 27 September: Walk above Leh.
Thu 28 September: Morning drive to the Khardung La (5300m), afternoon walk to Sankar Gompa.
Fri 29 September: Drive to Chilling, camp (3230m).
Sat 30 September: Across the Zanskar, into the Markha Valley, camp at Skiu (3405m).
Sun 1 October: Trek to Markha village (3700m).
Mon 2 October: Trek to camp beside the Nimaling Chu (41000m).
Tue 3 October: Trek to Nimaling plain (4700m).
Wed 4 October: Walk up to view Kang Yatze, second night at Nimaling.
Thu 5 October: Across the Kongmaru La (5100m), descend down gorge to camp (4070m).
Fri 6 October: Turn west, across the Gyuncho La (4600m), camp at Shang Po (4290m).
Sat 7 October: Across the Shang La (4800m), camp at Gangpoche (4510m).
Sun 8 October: Across the Mato La (4860m) to Stok Kangri base camp (4830m).
Mon 9 October: Acclimatisation day, afternoon walk up to pass above camp (5000m) and along ridge.
Tue 10 October: Afternoon walk to high base camp (5290m).
Wed 11 October: The climb - start 03:00 (5290m), arrive summit 08:45 (6120m), leave summit 09:40, high base camp 12:40, base camp 14:00, Stok village 17:45 (3650m).
Thu 12 October: Drive to Leh.
Fri 13 October: Fly to Delhi, afternoon sightseeing.
Sat 14 October: Train to Agra, sightseeing.
